Literature Text

Although Yugi was drunk and his mind was fuzzy hearing Atem's name in a sentence with those words, made the veins in his body pulse with anger. He was not sure why because Atem was one of his closest friends. Maybe it was the alcohol. Yugi withdrew from Téa and tried to steady himself because it seemed as if the room was spinning. He noticed Téa's wide eyes studying his unreadable face. Téa's facial features turned into a concerned frown as the words Yugi said sank in.

"Yugi..you feel the same way what do you mean?" She broke the silence with a whisper. Yugi wanted to stand and explain but he didn't think he could stand, instead he grasped onto the blankets on his queen sized bed.
"I like you Téa. I have liked you for a very long time." The words that he has always wanted to say came out in a slur. Yugi felt mortified. What he had hid for so long was revealed when he was drunk. Yugi tried to make out what she was thinking or what she would say but Téa just stared at his desk, in front of them, not wanting to face him.
"Aren't you going to say something?" Yugi felt the anger returning.
"I'm confused Yugi. I don't know what I want yet. You're my one of my closest friend, you have always been. And I don't want to ruin that." Téa turned to face him staring into his wide violet eyes. Even when he was intoxicated the lavender eyes she had always turned to were wide and innocent.
"There is another reason isn't there?" Yugi stood up without wanting to. His legs felt wobbly but he was starting to think that the booze was not affecting it, rather the fact that the woman of his dreams was going to reject him.
"Yugi listen for a minute okay?"
"Okay, go on." Yugi turned away from her face, which was killing him.
"Remember when Atem left I was devastated and I thought I would never see him again. Well I think he might have found a way to come visit just for a while. You see he sent me a letter right when I arrived to Domino, saying he would come see me as soon as possible. And I know you have missed him as much as I have-"
"No I have not!" The words slipped out too fast. Yugi was not sure if he meant them. He had been fine on his own, maybe even better. That was what the last duel represented right? So why would he come back? Yugi turned around, his back facing her, and held onto the desk for support. His chest felt like it was on fire, burning with all the anger he had stuffed inside for three years. Her words had slipped out rapidly yet he knew Téa meant everything she had just said. She had been waiting for him.
"Why are you anger? I have never seen you like this?" Yugi heard her stand up.
"Maybe because I like you so much and you are waiting for some spirit who died a long time ago!" His true feelings finally erupted, everything he had felt for the past three years came spilling out. Yugi turned around so fast he stumbled to the side. "Why do you even like him? He was the opposite of me, the dark side of me?" Yugi realized he was breathing heavily. He had to calm down.
"Yugi you don't know what you're saying your drunk. Let's talk about this tomorrow." He saw her heading towards the door with glossy eyes. And he could not believe that he had been so rude to her, he wanted to take back everything.
"No, Téa wait, I'm sorry." He reached for her but only caught air.
"No it's fine. I just thought you of all people would help me, support me in some way." She stopped at the door watching him struggle to get to her.
"I can't because I like you too much. He was here for two years, he was one of my closet friends, and all that was fine but the one thing I regret was standing by while he took you away from me. I won't let that happen again."
"But I have missed him so much.." Téa looked down with tears in her eyes. Yugi's insides turned to ash, it was over.
"Leave then you should go find him." He leaned on his desk departing his eyes off of his lost love.
"Yugi I didn't mean to-"
"Just go home Téa." Yugi mumbled the words yet he knew Téa understood them. The door opened slowly. "I promise I will be back tomorrow though, because you're drunk and your mind-"
"Forget about it." The words hit Téa like a slap in the face; she exited the room with tears in her eyes. As soon as Téa was gone Yugi lost his balance and sled to the floor sobbing with sadness and anger.

Téa rushed down the stairs wiping the tears from her eyes. She felt so confused now, why was she crying? She missed Yugi too, back in New York, but she always assumed it was because they are such close friends, but now she was not sure. She didn't even tell him about the bracelets, his gift. That was the main reason she wanted to talk to him, Téa's curiosity was gnawing at her and he was the only one she could trust. Plus only Yugi would know what these mystical bracelets were capable of.

Téa looked down at the gold bracelet around her wrist, as she entered the living room. The loud music was still playing but most of the people had left. She checked her watch and realized it was already 2 am. Téa searched the living room for her purse and spotted it right way. It was on the couch next to Joey and Mai, who were making out. She went over slowly to not disturb them when she felt an arm wrap around her shoulders. Téa jumped but then recognized the face. "What do you want Tristan? I'm going home."
"I've missed you Téa!"
"I have been here for a week"
"I need ride, work tomorrow." As Tristan's words came out jumbled she noticed he was past drunk. His breath reeked of beer and vodka. "Okay, fine let's go." She pushed him off as she snatched her purse. Tristan regained his balance and stopped Téa a few feet from the door. "Wait, Yugi! I tell him good night."
"No, I want to leave now. Plus I'm driving I'll leave you." Téa opened the door while reaching for Tristan's arm. "You can talk to him tomorrow, when both of you can talk normally." As she spoke she took off the bracelet and shoved it in her purse. That was right; she could deal with all this stuff tomorrow.

Yugi got up trudging to his bedroom door; I have to stop her she is drunk she can't drive or was she? She looked fine didn't she? The alcohol in Yugi had gone down a bit, since the agruement with Téa, so he made it down the stairs in one piece.
"Téa! Don't leave!" Yugi yelled once he reached the living room.
"Yug where have ya been? Ya still haven't taken shots with me n' Mai," Joey threw his arm around Yugi as soon as he spotted him.
"Joey did you see where Téa went?"
"Nope, think she went home. C'mon Yug let's celebrate!" Joey pulled Yugi towards the kitchen.
"But I have to find her."
"Yug ya supposed to be partyin' not worryin', whateva happened can be fixed tomorrow." Joey looked down at Yugi with a big smile, his honey-colored eyes were mellow and Yugi knew for a fact that he was drunk. Joey was pretty good at hiding it but Yugi could still tell.
"I found da birthday boy!" Joey yelled as they staggered into the kitchen; Mai and a couple of Yugi's friends from college hoorayed at the news.
"Yay," Yugi whispered not feeling excited. "Let da party begin!" Joey hollered rising his fist up in the air.  After the first shot Yugi's mind eased down, and his body felt relaxed. After the second shot the friends in the kitchen started to chant "shots! Shots!" Joey and Yugi followed instructions, but after the fourth shot Yugi blacked out.

Yugi awoke on his couch with his gray button-up shirt missing and his black skinny jeans unzipped, shocked he sat up rapidly. His head twirled out of control so he lies back down with a loud thump. What happened last night? He rubbed his forehead with his hands closing his eyes to soothe the pain. Yugi knew he had a massive hangover.

"Gosh Yug put some clothe on," Joey joked from the floor. Joey was under a navy blue blanket and it appeared he was not wearing a shirt either.
"What happened after Téa left last night? I don't remember a thing." Yugi turned to Joey with his head half dangling from the couch.
"Yeah! 'Dat was da plan to get da innocent Yugi drunk!" An evil laugh escaped Joey's lips as he sat up. "Okay I got drunk, but I'm serious what happened?"
"It was so funny watchin' you Yug, you're funny when you're wasted." Joey said picking up paper from the floor, and then Yugi noticed it was not paper but dollar bills. Then it hit Yugi right away.
"Please tell me we didn't do what I think we did?" Yugi asked in embarrassment.
"Oh we did, n' we rocked it! Look at all 'dis money!" Joey threw the money he gathered into the air.
"Oh my gosh!! I stripped what?" Yugi buried his face in his hands.
"Ya mean 'we' stripped, thank ya very much it was my idea." Joey stood up wearing only his boxers. "Now time to get some cleanin' done before ya mom gets home."
"Who was all watching? Did Tristan do it too?" Yugi asked ignoring the cleaning remark.
"Dose girls from our math class were watchin' an' of course Mai. Nah, he bailed left with Téa early. I think he got work today." Joey started picking up his blankets when his silver phone fell out. Yugi felt a pang of guilt as he remembered Téa.  He needed to talk to her that is if she still wanted to talk to him.

"Man I got six voicemails!" Joey put the phone to his left ear.
"Probably Mai," Yugi said while stretching and zipping up his jeans. Yugi focused on Joey when he heard the loud thud of his phone hit the ground. His face turned pale and his lively caramel eyes drained. "Yug… Téa and Tristan are in da hospital."
Here is the second chapter! I changed it to past tense, hope it is not too confusing since the first one was in present. I hope you all like it :)
